Youth4Unity to host National Leadership Day Congress & Multicultural Concert in 2009

Youth4Unity National Leadership Day Congress/Concert 3rd April 2009.

Brisbane non-profit organisation Youth4Unity will hold its first annual National Youth Day and Congress as part of the Q150 celebrations in April 2009, showcasing a new song and its talented choir in a multicultural concert to be held at QUT's Garden Theatre/Riverstage.

Held from April 3-4th, 2009, the Y4U National Youth Day and Congress coincides with the Q150 and B150 celebrations, an event showcasing ˜Queensland people and Queensland stories', as it reflects on 150 years of independence from New South Wales and establishment of its capital city, Brisbane.  Q150 is a timely opportunity for Queenslanders to take stock of the state's achievements as it continues to move forward in leaps and bounds.

To take part in the Q150 celebrations is to 'reflect on our past, imagine our future', which harmonises with Y4U's ongoing endeavour to promote tolerance and social harmony, to celebrate our ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, to help young people unite for equality, justice and peace, and to inspire our youth to get involved and make a difference.

The Y4U National Youth Day and Congress is working to attract youth from all backgrounds to Queensland during this special celebration, to witness for themselves  the beauty of our state and capital city and all it has to offer. Y4U is facilitating the sponsorship of students from schools in remote Queensland and in Brisbane for the event and in turn, these youth will go on to promote Queensland's schools, universities , diversity and rich resources to further bring Queensland to the fore.

The Y4U National Youth day will feature a performance from the acclaimed Kidz2Kidz choir as well as numerous performing arts shows and a line up of guest speakers. Activities include a group sing-a-long, drumming and dancing workshops as well as leadership workshops.

As an annual event, the Y4U National Youth Day and Congress in 2009 will be followed by an International Y4U Congress in 2010 and 2011.  Y4U are providing youth aged from 14 to 16 with the opportunity to represent our organisation internationally as Y4U Australian Ambassadors in Jordan for the Y4U International Congress. Those selected will be invited to present their various talents in the performing arts in Jordan.  For those interested in applying to become a Y4U Australian Ambassadors, please visit www.y4u.org.au for more details.
