Australian Kids Peace Gift to Iraq
Thursday, 24 June 2004 10:00
While the United States looks for ways to avoid prosecution for war crimes, Australian children are sending a musical gift to build bridges of peace with the children of Iraq.
They're launching a CD -- 'Songs of peace' -- that will be played over Iraqi radio. It's part of a project conceived by SANA MAMMO, an Iraqi-Australian mother of three. She wanted to create something where Australian children could relate to other children through music, in a gesture of support. MOHAMMAD IBRAHIM from the SBS Arabic language program spoke with SANA MAMMO and her daughter NATALIE to find out more.Â
